Miss Camilla Pierpont, a renowned matchmaker and influential member of the New York Four Hundred, has vowed never to marry after suffering a devastating heartbreak during her debut years ago. After learning that Camilla Pierpont has enjoyed success with taking wayward young ladies in hand, Mr. Owen Chesterfield travels to the Hudson River Valley determined to convince Camilla to sponsor his sister, who is in desperate need of social rehabilitation.

Knowing her life is in danger, Camilla agrees to Owen's proposition and travels with him to West Virginia, finding herself charmed by the less-than-formal attitude of his small hometown, as well as by Owen himself. But danger waits in the shadows, disrupting what she knows would be the most spectacular match she's ever made--her own.

My Thoughts

Meeting Her Match is book three in The Matchmaker's series that is written by Jen Turano. This might be my favorite book of the series. First, look at the cover. The cover design team always do such an amazing job with her covers. This story can be read as a stand alone. This author is a master at her craft. She transports readers back in history. Her careful research and fun historical details make her stories so fascinating to read.

In this story we meet  Camilla Pierpont, a renowned matchmaker and influential member of the New York Four Hundred, has vowed never to marry after suffering a devastating heartbreak during her debut years ago. Owen Chesterfield seeks out Camilla to try and get his sister sponsored. His sister, Luella. is a “ragamuffin”, ( I have not heard this phrase since I was a child ha ha). Luella has been a social outcast. While in New York, he sees Camilla and her paid companion getting chased by bandits. He offers to have her accompany him back to West Virginia, and she agrees knowing that her she was in danger.

Owen has a habit of putting his foot into his mouth. and Camilla helps to teach him manners. I also loved his family, they were quite hysterical. My husband looked at me several times during my bursts of laughter.

The author has done it again. Just when I think that her stories cannot get any better, boom a new release comes out. I have really loved this Matchmaker series, and cannot wait to see what she comes up with next. The book is well written, she has done her research to bring what life was like to life.

Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
