My Thoughts

Abounding Hope is book one in the Circle of Hope series that is written by Cindy Kay Stewart. I love historical fiction books that are set during WWII time. This one drew me in within the first few pages. The book is well written and has well developed characters. I loved the descriptions of scenes - I felt like I was watching everything unfold in front of me.

Irena is an American Teacher living in Germany. When Hitler comes to power - she escapes to Poland with three German boys. She is chased right to the border with stiff warning and threats that the boys belong to the Reich. She is settled in Poland with the boys and her sister and brother in law - when Poland is threatened by invasion.

Johnathan is an American Business man and a shipping Magnate. He and Irena are childhood classmates that have stayed in touch. He warns her that she needs to flee before the invasion. When she refuses to flee he tells her that he will return to help her when he closes down his Warsaw office. However, Germany invades before he has a chance to get back.

This is a story of a woman's bravery to take several children to safety. We follow Irena and her journey to try and escape to safety. We see bravery and courage as they are met with several roadblocks. We also see a story where trusting God is going to come first and foremost - and know that with God all things are possible.

I really enjoyed this story. I cannot wait until the next one in the series. Thank you to the author, publisher and JustRead Publicity tours for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
