Maggie inherited a gift from her time-crossing parents that allows her to live three separate lives in 1861, 1941, and 2001. Each night, she goes to sleep in one time period and wakes up in another. Until she turns twenty-one, when she will have to forfeit two of those lives--and everyone she knows in them--forever.

In 1861, Maggie is the daughter of a senator at the outbreak of the Civil War, navigating a capital full of Southern spies and wounded soldiers. In 1941, she is a navy nurse, grappling with her knowledge of the future when she joins a hospital ship going to Pearl Harbor. And in 2001, she's a brilliant young medical student, fulfilling her dream of becoming a surgeon.

While Maggie has sworn off romance until she makes her final choice, an intriguing man tugs at her heart in each era, only complicating the impossible decision she must make, which looms ever closer. With so much on the line, how can Maggie choose just one life to keep and the rest to lose?

My Thoughts

In this Moment is written by Gabrielle Meyer. This is book two in the Timeless series. This book was such a fun read that I didn’t want it to end. Maggie has a gift. She has 3 separate lives. Each day she wakes up in a different life.

One in 1861 where she is the daughter of a Senator. We are right at the beginning of the Civil War. Her father is close with the Lincoln’s. She knows about the future but can’t say anything due to possibly altering history. In this life she meets Gray Cooper. He’s new to DC and he’s captivated by Maggie. She feels that he is hiding something and she isn’t sure what.

Her life in 1941 she’s in the Navy as a nurse. She has excelled in her training due to her young age and gift of time traveling. She is assigned to the surgery ward where she meets Dr. Zechariah Phillips. They get off to a rocky start and she finds herself in Pearl Harbor. Her sister Anna doesn’t have the same gift and they find themselves caught up in the terror of the attack.

Finally she also has a life in 2001. In this life she is a mad student who has excelled at everything she has accomplished. She meets Seth and doesn’t want to get attached. When she turns 21 she will have to make a choice to what life she wants to continue with. She doesn’t know what one to choose. Her best friend and room mate helps her to hash out her choices.

All these lives cover historical events. The author did such a great job in creating Maggie. It was fun to see well known events unfold before my eyes. The story is beautifully written. I found myself drawn in within a first few pages.

Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
