MY THOUGHTS
Far Above Rubies: The Life of Louisa MacDonald is written by Jolyn Canty. I have not read anything by this author before. I was excited to read this book since I am a huge fan of biographies and learning where people came from. I had never heard from Louisa MacDonald before this. I did some basic research to become acquainted with our subject and the author did a great job writing her story. She did extensive research to ensure that Louisa was portrayed accurately.
I honestly did not know a lot about her husband, George. What I did learn from this book was how they worked well together. How she was the woman behind the author. I enjoyed learning about her life. She had eleven kids. Yes, 11 kids. She still managed to keep her small figure after having them. She made him wait to marry her.
This is a story of a woman who no matter what supported her man. They moved around a lot. Some of it was due to financial reasons, some of it was due to health reasons. They did not have the perfect relationship. They faced hardships. They faced issues. They lived through a lot. But they went through it together.
I am thankful to have been able to read this story. It made me appreciate who I am and where I came from. I received a copy of this book through the JustRead Publicity Tours Blogging program, all thoughts are my own.
